Problems When Children Move To A New School

Moving on to Secondary School

The experience of one of our members needs documenting for all separated and non-resident parents who find themselves not consulted when their children are choosing a new school.

Simon has a Shared Parenting arrangement with his two children which has been in operation for a couple of years. It was a hard-fought case with very serious alienating behaviours

The Bad - Feb 2023

During recent Private Law proceedings in the Family Court, a section 7 report recommended only indirect contact once every few months between a child and a father unless he completed a DV or anger management program (on the basis that some findings had been made against him). The findings were not serious towards the children.

The Section 7 Report indicated clearly that the wishes and feelings of both children were to see dad again soon.

The Ugly - Feb 2023

This utterly ugly case concerns a regular attender at one of our branch meetings.  While personally now low as a result of the stress he comes across as very rational and sensible. Seeking no more than what is best for his son. Which is a relationship with him to complement a difficult mother.

Details have been changed to prevent identification.
